L’AMOUR
"Why did you create me?"
"So that you may love."
"Why must I love?"
"So that you may understand."
Do you remember ever loving deeply? When you step beyond yourself, when your body and mind finally merge? You then grasp a truth that existed before you to become what you have always been: a creature interconnected with others, willing to give oneself without holding back, able to see in others what constitutes your very essence. Love makes you vulnerable, and therein lies the key to truth: the recognition that you are nothing more than an entity of love, seeking love, needing love, deserving love. And in this rush towards others, you discover what feels most like freedom.
We gather you in this sacred place not to keep this truth within these walls, but to send you back into the world carrying it. What you understand here must live in your hands, in your choices. Love is not something you contemplate. Love is not something you contemplate. It is a gift, shared again and again, in both grand and quiet gestures. Especially in the quiet ones.
Those sitting next to you in this church, the stranger you will pass tomorrow, the one who has hurt you, the one you have failed: they are all asking the same question you once asked: why am I here? And words cannot hold your answer. It exists in how you meet their eyes, how you offer your presence, how you choose tenderness over indifference. This is what it means to be human. To keep reaching across the distance, to keep trying. To love even when you are tired, even when you doubt, even when no one is watching. In this lies all grace.
